January 10, 2012 The meeting of the RCS Sport Wild Card Cycling Commission has just concluded. The Commitee, composed of Giacomo Catano, RCS Sport CEO; Michele Acquarone, RCS Sport general manager; Mauro Vegni, technical manager of the cycling area; Marco Gobbi Pansana, marketing manager of the cycling; Pier Bergonzi, representing the Direction of La Gazzetta dello Sport, has decided the invited teams to 2012 Milano-Sanremo, organized by RCS Sport: UCI Pro Team (invited by right): AG2R LA MONDIALE (FRA) ASTANA PRO TEAM (KAZ) BMC RACING TEAM (USA) EUSKALTEL – EUSKADI (ESP) FDJ – BIG MAT (FRA) GARMIN – CERVELO (USA) GREENEDGE CYCLING TEAM (USA) KATUSHA TEAM (RUS) LAMPRE – ISD (ITA) LIQUIGAS – CANNONDALE (ITA) LOTTO BELISOL TEAM (BEL) MOVISTAR TEAM (ESP) OMEGA PHARMA – QUICKSTEP (BEL) RABOBANK CYCLING TEAM (NED) RADIOSHACK – NISSAN (LUX) SKY PROCYCLING (GBR) TEAM SAXO BANK (DEN) VACANSOLEIL – DCM PRO CYCLING TEAM (NED) and 7 wild cards ACQUA & SAPONE (ITA) COLNAGO – CSF INOX (IRL) COLOMBIA – COLDEPORTES (COL) FARNESE VINI (GBR) PROJECT 1T4I (NED) TEAM TYPE 1 – SANOFI (USA) UTENSILNORD NAMED (IRL) 25 teams consisting of 8 riders each
January 1st, 2012   RCS Sport has announced that at midnight on December 31, 2011 (the deadline for submitting an application as a wild card for the World Tour races organized by RCS Sport by the 22 UCI Professional Teams), the following teams have sent their request to be considered: ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI (ITA) ACQUA & SAPONE (ITA) CHAMPION SYSTEM CYCLING TEAM (CHN) COLNAGO-CSF INOX (IRL) COLOMBIA-COLDEPORTES (COL) FARNESE VINI (GBR) LANDBOUWKREDIET (BEL) PROJECT 1T4I (NED) RUSVELO (RUS) SAUR SOYASUN (FRA) TEAM EUROPCAR (FRA) TEAM NETAPP (GER) TEAM TYPE 1-SANOFI (USA) UTELSILNORD NAMED (IRL) The remaining eight teams, not having sent any request or documentation, will not be taken into consideration in the choice of wild cards that will be distributed. Seven of the above UCI Professional Teams will be chosen, along with the 18 UCI ProTeams, for the 2012 Milano-Sanremo. On Tuesday 10 January, the RCS Sport Wild Card Cycling Commission(composed of five members: Giacomo Catano, CEO of RCS Sport, Michele Acquarone, General Manager of RCS Sport, Mauro Vegni, technical manager of cycling, Marco Gobbi Pansana, marketing Manager of cycling and Pier Bergonzi, representing the Direction of La Gazzetta dello Sport will meet to choose among 14 candidates.
