He says that "the lack of Rumsas is serious but with Svorada, Sciandri and Bertogliati we hope to do good". Raimondas Rumsas crashed in the Trofeo dell'Etna and will be out of action due to lacerations and contusions. He was due to ride both the Tirreno-Adriatico and San Remo. David Latasa Lasa was 179th a year ago 15' 39" down. He had been in a 4 man break with Sergey Matveyev (Panaria), Martin Rittsel (CSC) and Milan Kadlec (Mobilvetta) who had at one time a lead of 9'50". The break was caught on the Cipressa after being away for 155 km. José Ivan Gutierrez was 83rd at 1' 43" riding for ONCE. | Lotto-Adecco have chosen their riders to take part in the 2002 Milan-San Remo. It includes the 1999 winner Andrei Tchmil in his final few months as a pro rider and Peter Van Petegem who left the Palmans-Collstrop team last season to join Lotto. Van Petegem, who was in the crash with 300m to go on the Via Roma, finished in 13th place last year riding for Mercury. Mario Aerts was 18th. AERTS Mario (Bel) DE CLERCQ Hans (Bel) - Was in the original line-up but will now not be taking part due to a fall in the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise on 5th February. He has broken his right hand in two places and is expected to be out of action until the end of April. Robbie McEwen has replaced De Clercq. | He must, in addition, invite 5 other TT/1s of his choice from the current year and 2 Trade Teams from his country among the remaining Trade Teams.
